The hummingbird is one of the smallest birds in the world.
It measures only 6 centimetres from its peak to its tail and weighs 1.8 grams on average. It can wave its wings 80 to 200 times per second and its heart can beat up to 1,200 times per second. It lives exclusively in America, ranging from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska. There are about 350 species, 50 of them live in Mexico and 12 in the United States. Hummingbirds can fly up, down, to the sides, back and have the ability to alter their speed in a fraction of a second. The movement of its wings creates the figure of the “infinity” symbol, which made humans to associate it with past experiences, to consider the present and to project towards the future. This could be one of the reasons why the hummingbird also symbolizes eternity, continuity and infinity itself. It represents an invitation to jump into the past to look at our experiences, our mistakes and return to our reality to prevent repeating them.
